LANCASTER, PA — In a stellar display of pitching prowess, Lancaster Stormers‘ left-hander Max Green has been named Atlantic League co-Pitcher of the Month for July. This marks the first time a Stormer has received a monthly accolade this season.
Green’s July performance was nothing short of spectacular. He posted a perfect 5-0 record with a 2.93 ERA, winning all five of his starts. A rookie in the starting role, Green delivered four quality starts, holding opponents to fewer than two runs in three of those outings. Over 30.2 innings, he allowed 29 hits and nine earned runs, walked eight, and struck out 27 batters.
The Stormers have thrived with Green on the mound, boasting an 11-1 record in his 12 starts since he joined the rotation. Green himself holds an impressive 9-1 record. Manager Ross Peeples praised Green’s development, saying, “Green has continued to get better and better in his starting role. I hope he can continue to grow. We will be depending on him down the stretch. I love the intensity he pitches with.”
Green, a product of Pepperdine University, was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the eighth round of the 2017 MLB Draft. He reached Class AA Erie in 2021 but missed the entire 2022 season due to injuries. In 2023, he made 14 appearances in the Detroit system, posting a 1-2 record.
Green shares the award with Gastonia’s Nick Horvath, who allowed just three hits in 15.2 innings of relief work.
As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Green to see if he can maintain his stellar form and help lead the Stormers to further success.
