PHILADELPHIA, PA — Maccabi USA is on the lookout for Jewish swimmers to represent the United States at the 2025 Maccabiah Games in Israel, scheduled from July 8-22, 2025. This prestigious event provides a unique opportunity for athletes to compete on an international stage and be part of a monumental gathering of Jewish sports talent.
The call is open for various age divisions. The U16 category will feature boys and girls aged 14-16, while the Open division includes men and women aged 17-35. Additionally, the Masters division is for competitors aged 35 and above. This inclusive approach ensures that a wide range of swimmers can participate and showcase their skills.
Leading the U16 team will be Head Coach Zachary Lebovic, Assistant Coach at Princeton University, and Assistant Coach Marlene Bruten, a former Olympic swimmer for Mexico. The Open team will be guided by Head Coach Adam Epstein from Keiser University, and Assistant Coach Kelly Fertel from the University of South Carolina. The Masters team will be under the leadership of team Chair and Captain, Miriam Leitko.
Doug Markoff, Maccabi USA Aquatics Commissioner, expressed his enthusiasm about the selected coaching staff. “We have selected an incredible coaching staff from across the country that will provide immense leadership and support to our athletes at the international stage. The Maccabiah is the second largest sporting event in the world, and Swimming is always one of the most contested and elite competitions at the Games,” said Markoff.
The selected swimmers will join a robust USA contingent, with over 1,300 members, making it the largest Maccabiah team to date. This event not only promises intense competition but also a profound sense of unity and pride among Jewish athletes worldwide.
