MEDIA, PA — The Delaware County Community College (DCCC) Phantoms baseball team is eagerly preparing for an exhilarating season on the diamond. The team is set to face a demanding 36-game schedule against seasoned opponents from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II and III, as well as formidable adversaries from other conferences.

This year’s squad boasts a fresh lineup with only two returning players and an entirely new coaching staff, led by first-year head coach Ryan Hunter. Hunter, previously of Williamson College of the Trades, brings a strategic approach to hitting and a commitment to player development to the Phantoms.

Despite the team’s youth and relative inexperience, Coach Hunter is optimistic about the upcoming season. He has selected returning players Cidrik Navas and Jake Miller, along with newcomers Hunter Whitten and Cole DeRosa, as team captains. Hunter commended these players, saying, “These young men embody my philosophy of being truly dedicated to putting in the work to get better daily, and their collective leadership will drive this team.”

Among the newcomers expected to make a significant impact this season are West Chester Henderson graduate Whitten and Danny Guinan of Saint Joseph’s Preparatory School. They are anticipated to form a formidable 1-2 punch at the top of the pitching rotation. Benjamin Beasley, a first-year student and Upper Darby High School graduate, will bring defensive expertise to the middle of the infield. Eric Engesser of Downingtown West High School promises to add power to the batting lineup. Transfer student DeRosa will serve as a solid foundation for the team, a quality that led to his appointment as a captain.

Their hard work will be put to the test when the team opens its season on March 2 at 2 p.m. against the College of Southern Maryland. The Phantoms will play their home opener on Saturday, March 16 at 1 p.m., facing off against Central Penn College.

The DCCC invites students, faculty, staff, and members of the local community to come out and support the Phantoms baseball team. Home games will be held at the College’s baseball field on the Marple Campus, located at 901 S. Media Line Road in Media, Pennsylvania.
