As we continue to see rising prices at the gas pumps and in grocery stores, it’s easy to forget that prices are also increasing for businesses. Our local small businesses are feeling this impact the most. This holiday season, it’s more important than ever to shop small and support local businesses!
After two COVID-affected holiday seasons, this year was poised to be a comeback year. Now, inflation is raising the prices of supplies and products, leaving small businesses scrambling. From Berwyn to Malvern to West Chester, Chester County’s streets are full of small businesses ready to welcome you into their shops. That store you drive by every day on E. Gay St. in West Chester, but have never been to, may have the perfect gift for a friend! Headed to Malvern for lunch? Your pitstop to that cute boutique could make a business owner’s day!
If online shopping is more your speed, there are plenty of local, online-only small businesses to support. These small businesses are harder to find, but a simple social media search can turn up hundreds of results- and if you need some ideas, check out my highlight reels! On my Instagram, Main Line Ma, I’m constantly sharing posts and stories about small businesses who sell exclusively through their Facebook and Instagram. Whether searching for jewelry, clothing or monogrammed goods – the options are limitless!
Growing up and now growing my family in the area has given me an appreciation for the local businesses that make this such a special place to call “home.” One major reason I started Main Line Ma was to shed light on the charm local businesses provide to our area. Small businesses are the backbone of our community. This holiday season, let’s be theirs.
