Utility Construction to Cause Traffic Disruptions on Chester County Highways

Traffic Alert

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Motorists in Chester County, prepare for a series of traffic disruptions as PECO Energy and Verizon embark on utility construction projects on three state highways. The work is slated to begin on Monday, February 12, and could see lane closures lasting into late April.

The first project kicks off on Monday, February 12, with a weekday lane closure scheduled on Route 372 (Lower Valley Road) between Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) and Lenover Road in West Sadsbury Township. This closure, which will include flagging operations, will be in effect from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM through Friday, February 23.

Simultaneously, another lane closure will affect northbound U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) between Greenwood Road and Orchard Avenue in East Marlborough Township. This disruption will also take place weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, extending until Friday, March 1.

A third project will start later in the month, on Wednesday, February 21. This will involve a weekday lane closure on eastbound U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) between Darby Road and S. Valley Road in Tredyffrin Township. This disruption, also scheduled from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, will continue through Friday, April 26.

These crucial utility upgrades are necessary to ensure the continued reliability of services from PECO Energy and Verizon. However, they will inevitably lead to backups and delays in the affected areas. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near these work zones.

As always, all scheduled activities are weather dependent. PECO Energy and Verizon will complete these projects under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit. Safe travels!
