Your Commute Update: Discover How Business U.S. 322 Upgrades Will Transform Your Drive in Chester County

Traffic Alert

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the continuation of a significant roadway construction project aimed at enhancing safety along the Business U.S. 322 (High Street) corridor in West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township. This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety in the region.

Scheduled for Monday, November 4, through Friday, November 8, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, motorists will encounter periodic weekday lane closures with flagging on Business U.S. 322 between Barnard Street and Rosedale Street. Commuters are advised to plan for additional travel time as disruptions and delays are anticipated. As with all such projects, the timetable is contingent upon favorable weather conditions.

Under the current contract, the general contractor, Marino Corporation of Skippack, Pennsylvania, will implement a range of upgrades. These include the installation of new traffic signals at key intersections such as University Avenue and Sharpless Street, as well as enhancements to existing signals with retroreflective backplates and modern LED luminaires.

To further bolster pedestrian safety, the project will introduce pedestrian countdown timers, curb extensions, and high-visibility crosswalks. Additionally, the undertaking involves drainage improvements and comprehensive full-depth pavement restoration, culminating in a complete resurfacing of the roadway.

This $2,619,998 endeavor is fully funded by federal resources and aims to conclude physical construction by winter 2026. For real-time updates and further details, drivers are encouraged to consult the MyChesCo Traffic Center as the project progresses.
