WEST CHESTER, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that construction work will continue next week on a major safety improvement project along the Business U.S. 322 (High Street) corridor in West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township, Chester County.
Scheduled lane closures will take place on Thursday, January 2, and Friday, January 3, 2025, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane with flagging in place between Rosedale Avenue and Union Street. Motorists traveling through the area are advised to expect delays and allow extra time. All work is weather dependent and subject to rescheduling if necessary.
This comprehensive project includes key upgrades aimed at enhancing traffic flow and pedestrian safety. New traffic signals will be installed at the intersections of University Avenue and Sharpless Street, alongside signal support enhancements. Additional upgrades include retroreflective backplates for existing signals, modern LED lighting, pedestrian countdown timers, curb extensions, high-visibility crosswalks, drainage improvements, and full-depth pavement restoration. The project will conclude with the complete resurfacing of the roadway.
Marino Corporation, based in Skippack, Pennsylvania, serves as the general contractor for the $2.6 million initiative. The project, fully funded through federal allocations, is expected to be completed by winter 2026.
