WEST GOSHEN TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the upcoming closure of U.S. 322 (West Chester Bypass) as part of a superstructure replacement project on the Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) bridge. This closure is set to impact commuters in West Goshen Township, Chester County.
On Monday, August 26, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, U.S. 322 (West Chester Bypass) will be shut down in both directions between Phoenixville Pike and New Street. Westbound U.S. 322 motorists will be detoured via the Paoli Pike Interchange, Gay Street, North High Street, Chestnut Street, Hannum Avenue, and Downingtown Pike. Eastbound travelers will be rerouted through Business U.S. 322, Hannum Avenue, N. New Street, Market Street, West Chester Pike, and the ramp to U.S. 322/U.S. 202 South.
Motorists should plan for extra travel time and anticipate delays when driving near the work zone. All scheduled activities are subject to weather conditions.
This project stems from a bridge strike that occurred on December 21, 2023, when a large vehicle hit the Route 100 bridge over U.S. 322 (West Chester Bypass). PennDOT’s contractor has since repaired the damaged structure and a section of U.S. 322 where debris had fallen.
