TREDYFFRIN TOWNSHIP, PA — Tredyffrin Township recently announced that the closure of Glenhardie Road will extend until late 2024 due to the replacement of a damaged stone arch bridge over Trout Creek.
Michael Baker International, a renowned consulting firm, has been commissioned by the Township to work on the design and permitting for the new bridge. The process is anticipated to continue into the first quarter of 2024. Following the completion of permitting, the Township plans to put the project up for bidding in spring, with construction slated to start in summer 2024. The project is expected to be completed within the year.
The Board of Supervisors has allocated funding for the bridge replacement project in the 2024 Township Capital Budget.
Due to the current damage, the bridge will remain closed to all traffic. An exception has been made for the five properties located between Trout Creek and the PA Turnpike Bridge. A strict 3-ton weight limit has been recommended by the consultant for the existing structure, effectively prohibiting trucks from crossing until the new structure is in place.
Residents of Tredyffrin Township are advised to stay tuned to the Township website for continued updates on this significant infrastructure project.
