WEST CHESTER, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced continued construction along the Business U.S. 322 (High Street) corridor in West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township, Chester County. The project is aimed at enhancing roadway safety and modernizing infrastructure along this heavily traveled route.
Scheduled from Monday, March 3, through Friday, March 7, lane closures with flagging will occur between Barnard Street and Nields Street from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily. Motorists are advised to plan for additional travel time as delays and backups are anticipated. All work is weather dependent.
The comprehensive $2.6 million project, fully funded by federal sources, includes the installation of new traffic signals at University Avenue and Sharpless Street, as well as retroreflective backplates, LED luminaries, pedestrian countdown timers, and high-visibility crosswalks. Additional improvements involve curb extensions, enhanced drainage systems, and full-depth pavement restoration, culminating in a complete resurfacing of the roadway.
Marino Corporation of Skippack, Pennsylvania, is serving as the general contractor, and construction is expected to be completed by winter 2026.
