SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — Construction activities are planned next week on several state highways in Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties under a $14.9 million Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) project to improve stormwater management and facilities on more than 90 state highways across the five-county Philadelphia region.
The work schedules and locations are as follows:
Chester County
- Monday, October 23, through Friday, October 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 29 (Morehall Road) between Atwater Drive and the Pennsylvania Turnpike in East Whiteland Township for sawcutting;
- Monday, October 23, through Friday, October 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Morwood Road will be closed and detoured between Godshall Road and Allentown Road in Franconia Township for stormwater replacement. Motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour route;
- Monday, October 23, through Friday, October 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Strasburg Road will be closed and detoured between Buck Run Road and Hephzibah Hill Road in East Fallowfield Township for stormwater replacement. Motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour route; and
- Monday, October 30, through Friday, November 3, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Hollow Road will be closed and detoured between Yellow Springs Road and Pikeland Road in Charlestown Township for sawcutting. Motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour route.
Delaware County
- Monday, October 23, through Friday, October 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 352 (New Middletown Road) between U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) and North Drive in Middletown Township for curb work and road restoration.
Montgomery County
- Monday, October 23, through Friday, October 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Allentown Road between Reinert Rad and Route 63/Forty Foot Road in Towamencin Township for paving; and
- Monday, October 23, through Friday, October 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Morwood Road will be closed and detoured between Godshall Road and Allentown Road in Franconia Township for stormwater replacement. Motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour route.
Drivers are being advised to allow extra time when traveling near or through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. The schedule is weather dependent.
Highway Materials, Inc of Flourtown, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on this project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
