WEST CHESTER, PA — Construction work aimed at improving safety along the Business U.S. 322 (High Street) corridor in Chester County will persist next week, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). The project focuses on intersections within West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township.
From Thursday, December 26, to Friday, December 27, a lane closure with flagging will be in place on Business U.S. 322 between Rosedale Avenue and Union Street. Work will occur daily between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Drivers should anticipate delays and allow additional travel time when moving through the area. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.
This comprehensive project includes significant safety enhancements, such as the installation of new traffic signals at University Avenue and Sharpless Street, retroreflective backplates, LED lighting, and pedestrian countdown timers. Additional improvements include high-visibility crosswalks, curb extensions, drainage upgrades, and complete roadway resurfacing as part of full-depth pavement restoration.
Marino Corporation, based in Skippack, Pennsylvania, is managing construction under a $2.6 million federally funded contract. The project is anticipated to finish by winter 2026, delivering state-of-the-art roadway features designed to enhance safety and traffic efficiency for the community.
