WEST CHESTER, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the continuation of roadway construction next week on Business U.S. 322 (High Street) in West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township, Chester County. This critical project aims to enhance safety across multiple intersections within the corridor.
Scheduled from Monday, September 16, through Friday, September 27, the project will necessitate periodic lane closures between Nields Street and Barnard Street from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Motorists are encouraged to allocate additional travel time to navigate potential delays associated with these improvements.
Under the oversight of Marino Corporation, based in Skippack, Pennsylvania, the $2,619,998 federally funded initiative includes the installation of new traffic signals at University Avenue and Sharpless Street, alongside the enhancement of existing signals with retroreflective backplates. Modern LED luminaires, pedestrian countdown timers, curb extensions, high-visibility crosswalks, drainage enhancements, and comprehensive full-depth pavement restoration will also be implemented, culminating in a complete resurfacing of the roadway. The project is slated for completion by winter 2026, weather permitting.
