Road Closures and Detours on Route 82 (South Street) in Kennett Square for Utility Improvements

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that Kennett Square Borough will be performing utility improvements on Route 82 (South Street) in Kennett Square Borough, Chester County.

The work schedules and locations are:

  • Wednesday, August 16, and Thursday, August 17, from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM the following morning, Route 82 (South Street) will be closed at the intersection with Route 82 (Union Street). During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Cypress Street, Broad Street, Mulberry Street, Center Street, Route 82 (South Street), Lafayette Street, and Scarlett Avenue; and
  • Wednesday, August 30, and Thursday, August 31, from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Route 82 (South Street) will be closed at the intersection with Walnut Street. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Birch Street, Broad Street, Route 82 (South Street), Taylor Street, Chestnut Street, and Hornblende Avenue.

Local access will be maintained up to the work zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Kennett Square Borough will complete this project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.
