CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is set to commence a major safety improvement project along the Business U.S. 322 (High Street) corridor in West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township. Beginning Tuesday, September 3, drivers and pedestrians will notice significant upgrades aimed at enhancing traffic flow and reducing accidents.
The project, valued at $2,619,998, will see new traffic signals installed at key intersections, including University Avenue and Sharpless Street. Additional improvements feature retroreflective backplates, modern LED luminaries, pedestrian countdown timers, and high-visibility crosswalks. Comprehensive pavement restoration and curb extensions will further bolster safety and accessibility.
Lane closures are scheduled from September 3 to September 6, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, to facilitate tree removal operations on Business U.S. 322. Motorists should expect delays and allow extra travel time in these areas.
Marino Corporation of Skippack, Pennsylvania, is the general contractor for the federally funded project, which is slated for completion in winter 2026.
