CHESTER COUNTY, PA —The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced its maintenance crews will address deteriorating pavement conditions across Chester County, as part of efforts to manage the challenges posed by frequent freeze-thaw cycles. The region’s fluctuating winter weather conditions exacerbate pothole formation, requiring continuous maintenance to enhance road safety.
Planned repairs will target several major highways, including U.S. 1 in New Garden and Kennett townships, and U.S. 30 in Sadsbury, Valley, Caln, East Caln, and West Whiteland townships. Additional work areas cover Route 100 through West Whiteland and West Goshen townships, and U.S. 202, which spans Tredyffrin, East Whiteland, and West Goshen townships. Crews will also address other key routes such as U.S. 322, Route 41, and Route 162, along with local roads including Ship Road in Uwchland Township and Northbrook Road in West Bradford Township.
PennDOT urges drivers to remain cautious while passing through work zones. “Drivers are reminded to slow down in the work zone and refrain from distracted driving to keep themselves and our workers safe,” the agency stated.
Road maintenance remains weather dependent. With crews committed to patching potholes until all identified areas are repaired. Motorists can report potholes to PennDOT through the Customer Care Center at www.customercare.penndot.pa.gov.
