SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA —The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced plans for construction activities across several state highways in the southeastern region of the state. The work is scheduled to take place next week from Monday, November 13, to Friday, November 17, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
This undertaking falls under a $14.9 million project to improve stormwater management and facilities on more than 90 state highways in the five-county Philadelphia area. The counties affected by the upcoming work include Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery.
Travelers should be aware of the following restrictions:
In Bucks County,
- A lane closure is scheduled on Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) between Swartley Road and Orvilla Road in Hatfield Township, Montgomery County, and Hilltown Township, Bucks County for sawcutting and stormwater replacement.
In Chester County,
- A lane closure is scheduled on Route 29 (Morehall Road) between Atwater Drive and the Pennsylvania Turnpike in East Whiteland Township for sawcutting and stormwater replacement.
- Additionally, Hollow Road will continue to be closed between Charlestown Road and Route 29 (State Road) in Charlestown Township for stormwater replacement. A posted detour route will guide motorists around this area.
In Delaware County,
- A lane closure is scheduled on Gradyville Road between Delchester Road and Route 352 (Middletown Road) in Edgmont Township for paving and stormwater replacement.
- Another lane closure is planned on Route 352 (New Middletown Road) between U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) and North Drive in Middletown Township for paving.
Finally, in Montgomery County, a lane closure is scheduled on Ridge Pike between Fern Avenue and Caswell Avenue in Lower Providence Township for paving. Another lane closure is planned on Susquehanna Road between Colonial Avenue and Easton Road in Abington Township for stormwater replacement.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near these work areas due to expected backups and delays. All construction schedules are weather-dependent.
Highway Materials, Inc. of Flourtown, Montgomery County, is the general contractor for this project, financed entirely by state funds. PennDOT is reminding motorists to drive cautiously in construction zones for their safety and the safety of the workers.
