PennDOT announced it is set to embark on a road repair and resurfacing project in Chester County, Pennsylvania, with a budget of $14.7 million. This total project will span a 37-mile stretch of state highway, encompassing essential lane closures and temporary travel restrictions. The overarching goal of this initiative is to enhance road conditions by milling the existing surface and repaving with new asphalt, resulting in smoother roads for motorists.

The work schedules and locations are:

  • Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Pickering Dam Road between Charlestown Road and Route 29 (State Road) in Charlestown Township for milling and paving;
  • Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, alternating lane closures are scheduled in both directions on Paoli Pike between Five Points Road and Westtown Road/Garfield Avenue in West Goshen Township for utility adjustments and milling and paving; and
  • Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 345 (Bulltown Road) between Route 401 (Conestoga Road) and Route 23 (Ridge Road) in Warwick and East Nantmeal townships for milling and paving.

Motorists are being advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. The schedule is weather dependent.

Other state highways scheduled for resurfacing under this project include:

  • Route 10 (Limestone Road) between Route 472 (Market Street) and Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) in Oxford Borough and Lower Oxford, Upper Oxford, and West Fallowfield townships;
