Lane Closures Announced for High Street Safety Improvement Project

Traffic Alert

WEST CHESTER, PA — Drivers traveling through West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township should prepare for lane closures next week as PennDOT continues work on a major safety upgrade along Business U.S. 322 (High Street).

From Monday, March 10, through Friday, March 14, lane restrictions with flagging will be in place from 9 AM to 3 PM between Barnard Street and Nields Street. Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow for extra travel time. All activities are contingent on weather conditions.

This $2.6 million federally funded project aims to enhance safety and traffic flow throughout the corridor. The upgrades will include the installation of modern traffic signal systems at University Avenue and Sharpless Street, retroreflective backplates for enhanced visibility, pedestrian countdown timers, curb extensions, and high-visibility crosswalks. Additionally, comprehensive pavement restoration, drainage improvements, and LED lighting upgrades will be conducted, culminating in a full roadway resurfacing.

Marino Corporation of Skippack, Pennsylvania, has been contracted to execute the project, which is expected to reach completion in winter 2026. Motorists are advised to remain vigilant and plan accordingly as construction continues.
