ITS Upgrades Scheduled for U.S. 422 in Montgomery and Chester Counties

Traffic Alert

MONTGOMERY & CHESTER COUNTIES, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced scheduled Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) improvements along U.S. 422 in Montgomery and Chester counties. The project is set to impact traffic starting Monday, April 28, through Friday, May 2.

Periodic lane closures will take place in the following areas during the listed times:

  • Westbound U.S. 422 between Trooper Road (Route 363) and the Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) interchanges from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
  • Eastbound U.S. 422 between the Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) and Trooper Road (Route 363) interchanges from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Westbound U.S. 422 between Keim Street and Route 100 from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
  • Eastbound U.S. 422 between Route 100 and Keim Street from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Motorists are advised to anticipate delays and allow extra travel time when passing through the work zones, as periodic backups are expected. All work is weather dependent.

The ITS improvements are part of a larger $83.6 million initiative by PennDOT to reconstruct and enhance a 2.1-mile section of U.S. 422, including replacing bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County.

PennDOT reminds drivers to exercise caution while traveling through construction zones to ensure the safety of workers as well as the public.
