KENNETT SQUARE, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a local safety improvement project that will bring significant changes to Chester County’s traffic landscape but not without temporary inconveniences. Starting Monday, January 22, intersection improvements will commence on Route 82 (South Street) and Cypress Street in Kennett Square Borough and Kennett Township.
These improvements will necessitate weekday lane closures from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at multiple locations. On Route 82 (South Street), between Center Street and Broad Street in Kennett Square Borough, motorists can expect lane closures from Monday, January 22, through Tuesday, April 30. Similarly, on Cypress Street between Walnut Street and Cope Road in both Kennett Square Borough and Kennett Township, lane closures will also be in effect during the same period.
With these closures in place, PennDOT advises motorists to prepare for potential delays when traveling through the work areas. Backups are expected, and extra travel time should be planned accordingly. It’s worth noting that all scheduled activities are contingent on favorable weather conditions.
As PennDOT embarks on this crucial local safety improvement project, drivers are reminded to remain patient, stay alert, and maintain safe driving practices during these periods of construction activity.
