WEST CHESTER, PA — West Goshen Township has announced that Energy Transfer will be conducting maintenance work near the intersection of Boot Road and Mary Jane Lane. The planned operation is slated to commence on Monday, November 27, 2023.

Energy Transfer’s cathodic protection team is spearheading the maintenance operation. Cathodic protection is a crucial process that prevents corrosion in metallic structures, ensuring the long-term integrity and safety of pipeline systems.

The maintenance work will necessitate a lane restriction in the area surrounding Boot Road and Mary Jane Lane. West Goshen Township officials are urging motorists to take note of the temporary change in traffic patterns during this period. They assured residents that the pipeline is currently out of service, and the maintenance work does not pose any emergency regarding the pipeline.

Energy Transfer has a comprehensive pipeline integrity program that enables them to monitor their assets 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This regular maintenance work is an integral part of their commitment to maintain.

The company has also invested significantly in preventative maintenance measures, such as the use of in-line inspection tools, allowing them to detect and resolve potential anomalies within the pipelines before they become problematic.

While the maintenance work may cause some short-term inconvenience, it’s a necessary step to ensure the long-term safety and reliability of Energy Transfer’s pipeline systems.
