Construction on Route 3 in West Goshen Township to Cause Traffic Delays

Traffic Alert

WEST GOSHEN TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that construction is underway to improve travel and safety on the Route 3 (West Chester Pike)/East Gay Street/Route 3 (Market Street) corridor in West Goshen Township, Chester County.

The project will involve several significant improvements. These include reducing the number of travel lanes, upgrading pavement, installing High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST), closing one median break, and extending two others. Additionally, new pavement markings, chevrons, curve warning signs, and a new signalized intersection at Route 3 (West Chester Pike) and the U.S. 202 South off-ramp will be constructed.

Sections of Route 3 and East Gay Street slated for improvement include intersections at Prospect Avenue, Morris Road, Concord Road, U.S. 202 North and South ramps, Patrick Avenue, Five Points Road, and Spring Lane.

From today through Friday, November 29, weekday lane closures are scheduled in both directions on Route 3 (West Chester Pike) between Garfield Avenue and Spring Lane from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for concrete median demolition and reconstruction.

Motorists should plan for extra travel time due to anticipated traffic backups and delays. All activities depend on weather conditions.

Highway Materials, Inc. of Flourtown, PA, is the general contractor for this federally funded project, which is expected to be completed by winter 2025.
