CHESTER COUNTY, PA — In an effort to improve roadway conditions, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a comprehensive resurfacing operation across several state highways in Chester County. From Sunday, May 12, through Thursday, May 16, motorists should anticipate nighttime lane closures and potential traffic slowdowns.
The scheduled work, which will run from early evening until the early morning hours, encompasses a variety of crucial maintenance tasks including paving, milling, and repaving. Specifically, Route 796 (Jennersville Road), Route 340 (West Kings Highway), Wagontown Road, Caln Road/Reeceville Road, and Creek Road will see such closures within New London, Londonderry, West Caln, Valley, and West Nantmeal townships respectively.
This initiative is part of PennDOT’s commitment to sealing roadways with new asphalt pavement, aimed at providing a safer and smoother riding surface for the public. The repairs and enhancements are designed not only to maintain the structural integrity of these routes but also to significantly improve travel safety for daily commuters and long-distance travelers alike.
Travelers navigating these areas are advised to allocate additional time for their journeys, as the expected lane closures are likely to induce significant traffic slowdowns. All planned activities are dependent on favorable weather conditions.
PennDOT urges drivers to remain vigilant and patient during this period of heightened construction activity, emphasizing the importance of these upgrades in bolstering the overall quality of Chester County’s transportation infrastructure.
