Bridge Repair on Route 401 to Cause Lane Closures, Expect Delays

WEST PIKELAND TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that bridge repair will begin next week on the structure carrying Route 401 (Conestoga Road) over Pine Creek in West Pikeland Township, Chester County.

From Monday, June 17, through Friday, June 28, alternating lane closures are scheduled between Chase Lane and Upper Pine Creek Road/Drovers Lane. The closures will take place from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily. Drivers should anticipate backups and delays and are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area. All activities are weather dependent.

The Route 401 bridge, built in 1960, is a 26-foot-long, 43-foot-wide reinforced concrete solid slab structure. It carries approximately 10,840 vehicles per day. The repairs are crucial for maintaining the bridge’s integrity and ensuring driver safety.
