KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — The Veterans Commission at Washington Memorial Chapel has announced that it has joined forces with The Society of Descendants of Washington’s Army at Valley Forge (DVF) to bring the Second Annual Wreaths Across America (www.wreathsacrossamerica.org) to the Washington Memorial Chapel’s cemetery in Valley Forge, PA on Saturday, December 14 at 11 AM.
During the event, approximately 750 wreaths, which have been donated through the Wreaths Across America’s community, will be placed across the grounds and churchyard. As each wreath is laid, the Veteran’s name will be read aloud and his or her sacrifice for our country will be remembered by all.
For those looking to participate in the event, there are plenty of volunteer opportunities to set up the wreath stands on Friday, December 13 and at the wreath clean up and recycling on January 18 (visit the above link to sign up to volunteer).
Wreaths Across America’s mission is simple: Remember the fallen, Honor those that serve, and Teach the next generation about the value of freedom. In 2023, Wreaths Across America and its national network of over three million volunteers placed Veterans’ wreaths at over 4,200 locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea, and abroad.
This event brings the community together to remember those soldiers who died during the 1777-1778 Encampment at Valley Forge and on the graves of those buried in the Chapel’s churchyard. It is a great way to honor the and show gratitude for their service.
For more information, contact the Veterans Commission at veteranscommission@wmchapel.org
The Chapel is located at 2000 Valley Forge Park Rd, King of Prussia, PA 19406.
