Vishay Intertechnology Unveils High-Frequency Resistors for Advanced Applications

Vishay Intertechnology

MALVERN, PAVishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) has launched a groundbreaking series of AEC-Q200 qualified thin film chip resistors. Named the Vishay Sfernice CHA series, these new resistors offer exceptional high-frequency performance, reaching up to 70 GHz. This makes them a prime choice for a wide array of high-tech applications, including automotive, space, avionics, telecom, and military sectors.

The new series is housed in a compact 02016 case size and is available in resistance values ranging from 10 Ω to 500 Ω. One of the standout features of these resistors is their low internal reactance, allowing them to behave almost like pure resistors across their extensive frequency range. This is complemented by a nearly flat Z/R curve extending to 70 GHz, ensuring consistent performance even under strenuous conditions.

Engineered for robustness, the CHA series maintains high-frequency stability even after enduring the rigorous AEC-Q200 tests. This reliability is validated through ΔR and Z/R measurements, guaranteeing that these resistors can perform optimally in harsh environmental conditions.

These resistors are particularly well-suited for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), LIDAR, connectivity, and 4D radar systems in the automotive sector. They are also ideal for LEO satellites and space communication systems, military guidance and telemetry systems, drones, and RF antennas. For these applications, the resistors offer a limiting voltage of 30 V and a rated power of 30 mW at +70 °C. They also come with a temperature coefficient of ± 100 ppm/°C, with an option for ± 50 ppm/°C upon request.

In addition to their impressive technical specifications, the CHA series resistors come with S-parameter data and 3D models for electronic simulation. These models are compatible with Ansys® HFSS™ and Modelithics Microwave Global Models™, aiding in reducing development time and costs.

The resistors are also RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and adhere to Vishay’s Green standards, reflecting the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility. They are available in tape and reel packaging, ready for integration into cutting-edge technological systems.

By introducing the CHA series, Vishay Intertechnology is setting a new benchmark in high-frequency resistor performance, positioning itself as a key player in the rapidly advancing fields of automotive, aerospace, and telecommunications technology. This development not only highlights Vishay’s innovative capabilities but also promises to drive progress in numerous high-demand applications, ultimately benefiting a wide range of industries and end-users.
