MALVERN, PA — Rajant Corporation and ESG Solutions have successfully completed another round of underground mine testing at Sudbury, Canada’s NORCAT health and safety center. The testing aims to enhance communication, productivity, privacy, and security in mining operations.
ESG Solutions implemented Precision Time Protocol (PTP) to improve the reliability of mission-critical data transmission from the mine to the surface. Most wireless networks struggle with PTP, but Rajant’s Kinetic Mesh network allows PTP to perform with microsecond precision. This capability is vital for scaling advanced automation systems in mining.
“Offering our mining clients wireless PTP time synchronization of our micro-seismic data will give them the flexibility to expand their monitoring systems rapidly and cost-effectively,” said Chris Hawryluck, Director of Engineering at ESG.
Rajant’s Sales Director for Canada, Darrell Gillis, emphasized the importance of low latency and high reliability in their wireless communications. “Both PTP and wireless communications are critical for large-scale automation. Rajant’s technology eliminates the need for fiber runs from remote sensors, allowing data packets to be transmitted wirelessly to the nearest fiber switch.”
The latest advancements will be showcased at MINExpo 2024 in Las Vegas. From September 24th to 26th, visitors can learn more at Rajant’s booth (#10741) at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
