MALVERN, PA — Balfour Beatty Communities (BBC) is set to revolutionize connectivity in military housing by engaging multiple fiber optic network providers to introduce advanced broadband capabilities. The initiative will kick off with a deployment in 10,000 homes across six U.S. Army bases, including Fort Eisenhower in Georgia, Fort Bliss in Texas, and Fort Jackson in South Carolina.

This fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) project aims to provide military families with high-speed internet essential for modern-day activities such as telemedicine, online education, and video conferencing. “Delivering exceptional living experiences means continuously adapting to meet residents’ evolving needs,” said Theresa Steele, Vice President, Project Development at Balfour Beatty Communities. The upgraded network promises reliability and security, enhancing daily life for residents.

The Fort Jackson Army Housing Office emphasized the importance of fiber technology, which has been standard in many residential areas. “Army families would benefit greatly from this much-needed upgrade to fiber optic connectivity. Not only will this improve connectivity performance in every home, it also future-proofs our partner-managed homes, increasing the overall value,” the office stated.

BBC is in various stages of development with third-party providers to implement the FTTH projects and plans to extend this high-speed connectivity across more military housing communities in the future. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of life for military families, ensuring they have access to the digital resources necessary for their everyday tasks.
