WEST CHESTER, PA — State Senator Carolyn Comitta, representing the 19th Senatorial District of Pennsylvania, has officially announced her re-election campaign. The announcement took place with dozens of friends, supporters, and respected public officials in attendance.
Comitta praised Chester County’s thriving schools, bustling downtown centers, and beautiful natural landscapes, stating it as the best place to live, work, and raise a family. Her campaign aims to continue building safe, healthy, vibrant, and prosperous communities for future generations.
As the minority chair of the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, Comitta stressed the importance of creating a sustainable Pennsylvania. Her focus is on reducing emissions, transitioning to renewable energy sources, and developing climate-resilient infrastructure.
Comitta also underscored her commitment to protecting access to abortion and reproductive healthcare for all Pennsylvanians. In light of recent attempts to restrict access to reproductive care nationwide, she pledged to fight to keep abortion safe and legal in Pennsylvania.
A former educator in the Octorara Area School District, Comitta emphasized her dedication to strengthening the public education system. She affirmed that Chester County, home to some of the best public schools in the country, exemplifies the potential of a fully-funded public education system.
Before her election to the Senate in 2020, Comitta served two terms in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and two terms as Mayor of West Chester, where she was the first woman and bipartisan candidate elected to the role.
Among the nearly 100 individuals who joined Comitta for her announcement were state Senators Vincent Hughes, Sharif Street, Tim Kearney, Katie Muth, John Kane, and Representatives Kristine Howard, Danielle Friel Otten, and Chris Pielli. Former West Chester Mayor Dr. Clifford E. DeBaptiste will serve as Comitta’s Honorary Campaign Chair.
