WEST CHESTER, PA — State Representative Chris Pielli, D-Chester, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to 24 individuals who officially became United States citizens on Friday, November 17. The semi-annual naturalization ceremonies were hosted at the Chester County Justice Center in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
The newly minted U.S. citizens, originally hailing from 15 different countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America, took the oath of citizenship in a momentous ceremony. They were warmly welcomed by public officials and judges present at the event.
Following the swearing-in, the League of Women Voters seized the opportunity to encourage civic participation by offering these new citizens the chance to register to vote.
In a poignant speech, Pielli emphasized the enduring legacy of immigration in shaping the United States. “America is, was, and always will be a nation of immigrants,” he stated, expressing his personal pride in his own immigrant roots.
Drawing on the diversity within his own family as a reflection of America’s multicultural tapestry, Pielli shared his immense pride for the new citizens. He hailed them as modern-day pioneers, contributing to the continued narrative of American greatness.
“Today, I have an overwhelming sense of pride for you continuing this great 247-year Democratic experiment, and not only welcome you as my equals, but as my heroes,” Pielli told the new citizens.
He concluded his address with a heartfelt blessing, “You are modern day pioneers, and you will continue to write the story of our greatness by doing your part, making us the free and unconquerable United States of America. God bless you all and God bless America.”
