HARRISBURG, PA — Chester County is set to benefit from a significant infusion of state funding aimed at enhancing local infrastructure and public safety, as announced by State Representative Christina Sappey and Senator John Kane. The allocation, amounting to $734,670, will support several pivotal projects, highlighting the importance of sustainable development and community welfare.
The funds, sourced from the Statewide Local Share Account under the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development Gaming Act, are earmarked for three key initiatives. Firstly, the Chester Water Authority will receive $350,000 to overhaul the Sullivan booster station in Avondale Borough. This project involves the installation of advanced booster pumps and a modern motor control center, alongside multiple frequency drives and an emergency generator. These enhancements are designed to optimize the station’s operations, ensuring a more efficient water supply system capable of simultaneously running multiple pumps in emergencies, thereby reducing operational costs and enhancing resilience.
Kennett Square Borough has been allocated $34,670 for the procurement of a new audio/visual surveillance system for its police station. This upgrade will replace outdated equipment, enhancing safety and accountability within the police department and ensuring reliable surveillance capabilities that serve both the officers and the public.
Additionally, Kennett Township is set to receive $350,000 for the installation of a 233 kW solar system at its new Food Distribution and Emergency Assistance Resource Center. This initiative underscores a commitment to sustainable energy solutions, reducing the facility’s carbon footprint and operational costs while promoting environmental stewardship.
