LANDENBERG, PA — The Southern Chester County Regional Police Department, serving New Garden Township, West Grove Borough, and Avondale Borough, has announced a recruitment drive for full-time police officers. The department is seeking dedicated individuals ready to uphold the law and maintain peace within these communities.
Applications are available during business hours at the department headquarters located at 8934 Gap Newport Pike, Landenberg, PA 19350. The process is running on a tight schedule with applications available until Friday, March 15, 2024, at 4:00 pm, by which time all completed application materials must be returned.
There are several minimum standards that candidates must meet for consideration. Applicants must possess a High School Diploma or GED recognized by the Board of Education and should have graduated from a police academy. They must be capable of obtaining their PA Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission Academy certification (Act 120 certification) or currently be certified as a police officer in another state and qualified to obtain MPOETC Act 120 certification by the date of probationary appointment.
Additional requirements include U.S. citizenship, being at least 21 years of age by the appointment date, and possessing a valid driver’s license with no revocations or suspensions within the last three years. Candidates found lacking in these areas or determined to be dishonest during the application process will be disqualified.
The department is offering a competitive starting salary of $68,250.00, with consideration given for lateral entry based on experience, potentially upping the starting salary to $81,900. Other incentives include overtime pay at time and a half for holidays worked and an additional 2.5% for all night shifts worked.
Officers will also benefit from an extensive field training program, a fixed 12-hour rotation schedule, and a wide range of training opportunities. Medical and dental insurance options are available, and the department prides itself on being an accredited agency with stringent requirements to properly train and equip its officers.
