EXTON, PA — Whitford Country Club recently hosted the Whitford Charitable Classic, a weekend-long event that raised $121,000 in donations for 11 Chester County non-profit charities. The event was organized in partnership with the Chester County Community Foundation and took place from September 22-24.

The Whitford Classic brought together club members and a broad network of community supporters to participate in golf, tennis, and pickleball tournaments. Although this year’s golf and pickleball tournaments were canceled due to weather, players generously donated their admission fees, resulting in one of the highest net revenues in the event’s history.

Among the weekend’s highlights was the Gala and Auction, and the Ladies Tennis event, themed “It all Begins with LOVE”, which kicked off the festivities in near-perfect weather conditions.

Since its inception in 2011, the Whitford Classic has raised almost $1.4 million and awarded grants to over 80 qualifying organizations. This year’s beneficiaries include A Child’s Light; A Haven; Chester County Futures; Community Warehouse Project; Connect Thru Cancer; Fertility Dreams; Health Care Access; Mosaic Place; Partners in Outreach; Rhy’s Above and Sow Good Now.

Kelly Hagelauer, Chair of ‘The Classic’, emphasized the importance of the Whitford Charitable Fund, noting that Whitford members take pride in being the only country club in the Philadelphia region donating their facilities, time, talents, and treasures to local causes.

Whitford Country Club and the Whitford Charitable Committee are already planning for the 2024 ‘Classic’, aiming to continue supporting valuable Chester County charities.
