GREATER PHILADELPHIA AREA — The Wardrobe, a nonprofit devoted to ending clothing insecurity, is kicking off its 30th year with a series of Open Wardrobe events designed to offer free clothing and essential resources to underserved populations. These monthly events, starting in January 2025, aim to provide dignity and support to those in need while fostering community connections.
The first three Open Wardrobe events of 2025 are scheduled as follows:
- Thursday, January 30: Focused on assisting individuals experiencing housing transitions.
- Thursday, February 23: Dedicated to job seekers participating in workforce development programs.
- Thursday, March 27: The annual Smart and Sexy Day event, held in honor of Women’s History Month, sponsored by The Alliance of Career Development Nonprofits. This event will provide free bra fittings, along with complimentary bras and undergarments.
Each Open Wardrobe event features no-cost clothing provided in a welcoming “shopping” environment, where participants can connect with peers while accessing additional services like educational workshops and resource tables.
Participants can attend these events at any of The Wardrobe’s four locations across the Greater Philadelphia area:
- 62 W. Marshall Road, Upper Darby
- 413 N. 4th Street, Philadelphia
- 345 Scarlett Road, Kennett Square
- Exton Square Mall (2nd floor, near Boscov’s), Exton
These events are part of The Wardrobe’s broader mission to combat clothing insecurity by combining practical support with empowerment initiatives. Attendees must RSVP in advance to secure their spot. With its landmark 30th anniversary, The Wardrobe continues to expand its impact, ensuring that individuals across the region have access to essentials that restore dignity and confidence.
