DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Communities that Care of Greater Downingtown (CTC) has announced its 5th annual youth video contest, aimed at promoting alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) prevention, as well as mental health awareness. Open to all 7th through 12th graders in the Downingtown Area School District (DASD), this year’s contest features the theme, “A Teen in Today’s World.”

Students are encouraged to submit short videos expressing what they wish adults understood about being a teen today, particularly regarding ATOD use, mental health, or school life. The contest reflects CTC’s mission to highlight the positive choices made by most youth in the community. Data from the Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS) 2023 reveals encouraging statistics, with 88.8% of DASD youth reporting no alcohol use and 94.1% reporting no marijuana use in the past 30 days.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three winners, with the first-place winner receiving $250, second place $200, and third place $150. Additionally, the first-place winner will be treated to four tickets to see the Philadelphia Phillies take on the Washington Nationals at Citizens Bank Park on April 29, 2025.

The deadline to submit entries is Friday, April 11, 2025. Through this initiative, CTC aims to engage local youth, amplify their voices, and foster a supportive dialogue on the challenges teens face today. The contest rules and permission form can be found at dtownctc.org/video-contest.
