HARRISBURG, PA — Pennsylvania has announced a new wave of state funding to enhance security measures for Chester County organizations. State Representative Dan Williams, D-Chester, highlighted the recent allocations from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s (PCCD) Nonprofit Security Grant Program, designed to mitigate risks associated with hate-motivated acts.

Among the latest beneficiaries are the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County, which has been granted $70,000, and Masjid Al Rahman of Chester County Inc., receiving $25,000. These funds are intended to implement effective security enhancements, thereby ensuring that community members can feel safe in their residences and places of worship. Rep. Williams emphasized the importance of such measures, stating, “Every Pennsylvanian deserves the right to feel safe, whether in their own home or in their space of worship.”

The Nonprofit Security Grant Program, administered by PCCD, has been pivotal in providing financial support for security upgrades across the Commonwealth. Since its inception, the program has disbursed $25 million to over 580 nonprofit organizations, reflecting a strong commitment to community protection. This latest funding cycle, the seventh of its kind, extends support to 208 nonprofit entities, marking a significant expansion by including 102 organizations that are receiving these grants for the first time.

The program focuses on enhancing security measures for nonprofits that may be particularly vulnerable to hate crimes or violent acts. By providing these organizations with the resources needed to fortify their defenses, the program seeks to foster a sense of safety and resilience within the community. This initiative is not only about immediate security but also about empowering communities to stand firm against hate and violence.
