WAYNE, PA — The Pennsylvania State Society Daughters of the American Revolution (PSSDAR) will present a $25,000 donation to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation during its 128th State Conference, taking place April 24-26, 2025, in Pittsburgh. Members of the Wayne-based Jeptha Abbott chapter will attend the event, including Regent Teri Fischer and other chapter leaders.
This donation, made possible through the efforts of all 94 PSSDAR chapters across the state, will provide vital support to first responders and military families. Specifically, the funds will help deliver mortgage-free homes to Gold Star families and build specially-adapted housing for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. Highlighting the impact of this contribution, T2T Events Manager Mark Phillips will discuss the foundation’s work and announce plans for Pennsylvania’s first T2T homeless veterans community.
State Regent Marguerite Fritsch expressed her pride in PSSDAR’s dedication to veterans. “I selected Tunnels to Towers as our state veteran project due to my personal connections to both 9/11 and T2T, and I’m proud that our organization is taking concrete action to support veterans facing housing insecurity,” she said.
The conference will feature several other notable events, including the “Rucksacks to Backpacks” parade and an Education Breakfast marking the centennial of the Kate Duncan Smith DAR School in Alabama. A dedication of an America 250 Marker at Fort Pitt Block House will also celebrate Pittsburgh’s historical significance.
This year’s gathering will mark the conclusion of Fritsch’s term as State Regent, capping three years of impactful leadership. The donation to T2T and the society’s broader initiatives reflect PSSDAR’s continued commitment to education, historic preservation, and patriotism. Looking ahead, the organization is poised to build on these achievements, supporting those who serve and protecting the nation’s history.
