BERWYN, PA — On Saturday, January 18th, Trinity Presbyterian Church of Berwyn is hosting three Community Service Projects with volunteer opportunities in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life and achievements; A Food Drive benefiting our Caring Cupboard, the Repair Cafe which is a partnership with the Easttown Environmental Action Committee to divert waste from landfills, and Hygiene Kit making for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.
Food Drive (10AM – 3PM): Trinity’s Caring Cupboard provides a week’s worth of groceries once a month to approximately 35 families who live in the T/E community. We are collecting all non-expired canned goods, as well as the following items: mayonnaise, maple syrup, jelly, crackers, coffee, tea, cooking oil, toothpaste, bath soap, toilet paper, and laundry detergent. We hope you will consider donating to help those who experience food insecurity in our own backyard. Donations will be collected in the main parking lot. We are also looking for volunteers to pick up and organize food donations.
Repair Cafe (10 AM – 12 PM): Join us for our first Repair Cafe of 2025! Bring your broken and damaged household items — clothes, bags, bikes, lamps, computers — and we will help you fix them! Our repair techs are all amateur professionals local to your own community — we are high school students and homemakers, church members and civically minded residents who care a lot about the environment. Repair Cafe is an initiative of the Easttown Environmental Action Committee and Trinity Church, and seeks to divert waste from landfills. We are also looking for Repair Cafe volunteers who are handy and would like to use their repair skills to help mend broken items from our neighborhood.
Hygiene Kits (12PM – 2PM): Please volunteer to make hygiene kits for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA). PDA provides direct financial and in-kind support to individuals recovering in the wake of natural disasters. Our hygiene kits will be sent locally and nationwide to assist recovery efforts.
