DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Communities that Care of Greater Downingtown (CTC) is ushering in the new year with a renewed commitment to their Parent-to-Parent: Building Connections Groups. Teaming up with the Downingtown Area School District, private schools, and community partners, CTC has established these supportive platforms to serve families with children in grades K-12 in the greater Downingtown region.
Currently, CTC offers an array of groups catering to different age brackets, including an elementary parent group, a 6th-grade parents’ group, a middle school parent group, and a high school parent group.
These gatherings allow parents to explore a variety of topics that change each month. Upcoming discussions will delve into subjects like friendships and bullying, grit and resiliency, sibling relationships, and proactive parenting. The aim is to provide a haven for parents to find support, advice, and a sense of community, all while receiving prevention education.
Each session is facilitated by a licensed mental health and parenting professional, ensuring meaningful and insightful conversations. Parent-to-Parent groups are more than just meetings; they are a powerful tool to fortify families in the Downingtown community. By boosting parental awareness and education on drug, alcohol, and mental health issues, and offering a judgment-free environment for support, the initiative works towards enhancing youth protective factors.
The schedule, discussion topics, and registration details for the upcoming Parent-to-Parent: Building Connections Groups can be found on the CTC website. This community-sustaining program is made possible through funds from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD).
As we step into the new year, CTC is inviting parents to seize this opportunity to connect, learn, and strengthen their families. Join the Parent-to-Parent: Building Connections Group, and build a stronger, safer Downingtown together.
