COATESVILLE, PA — Members of Chester County’s veteran community are invited to join in marking the International Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR) on Monday, November 20, 2023. This significant event will take place at the All Faith Chapel of Coatesville VA Medical Center from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., followed by light refreshments.

The Transgender Day of Remembrance is a global observance held annually to honor and remember those who have lost their lives to transphobia. The day aims to raise awareness about the ongoing violence that transgender people face worldwide.

This year’s service marks the Third Annual Transgender Day of Remembrance at Coatesville VA Medical Center. The event offers an opportunity for the local community to stand in solidarity with transgender individuals and their families, acknowledging the challenges they face and remembering those who have been tragically lost.

For those unable to attend in person, the service will also be broadcast via Facebook Live, ensuring all who wish to participate can do so.

The Coatesville VA Medical Center is located at 1400 Black Horse Hill Road in Coatesville, PA. The event is free of charge, and all are welcome.

As we approach November 20, let’s take a moment to remember why we commemorate this day. It’s more than an annual observance; it’s a call to action for everyone to challenge prejudice and discrimination, and to affirm the dignity and worth of every individual. Whether you join in person or online, your presence will make a difference in honoring the memory of those lost and supporting the transgender community.
