Arrest

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — The Kennett Square Police Department announced the arrest of a woman on assault charges. The incident occurred on October 7, 2023, around 5:54 PM on the 500 Block of S. Union Street.

According to the criminal complaint, officers from the Kennett Square Police Department were dispatched following a report of a physical domestic dispute in progress. Dispatchers informed the officers en route that a young woman dressed in black was allegedly trying to attack a male subject and had struck him in the face.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers encountered Elizabeth Kauffman, a woman in her twenties who matched the description given by dispatch. She was found alongside the victim on the public sidewalk.

Throughout their interaction with the officers, Kauffman admitted she was the aggressor in the incident and stated that the male subject had not retaliated. The victim confirmed that he had been struck in the face, and several eyewitnesses corroborated his statement, stating they observed Kauffman strike the victim 3-5 times in the face using both hands.

Elizabeth Kauffman was taken into custody and charged with Simple Assault, Harassment, Disorderly Conduct, and Public Drunkenness. She was subsequently transported to Central Booking at Chester County Prison. The case is pending a preliminary hearing.
