Wilmington Shooting: Arrest of Suspect Unveils New Details in October Incident

WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police have arrested 24-year-old Tyshaun Blue following an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred in early October. The incident, which took place on October 3, saw officers from the Uniformed Services Division respond to reports of gunfire near West 7th and North Monroe Streets at approximately 6:44 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a 19-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was subsequently transported to a hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

The case was assigned to Detective Kevin Nolan of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through diligent investigative work, Detective Nolan, along with the Gun Intelligence Unit, identified Blue as a suspect. It was discovered that Blue was also wanted in connection with an unrelated matter.

On November 6, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant in the 1300 block of Chestnut Street, resulting in the arrest of Blue without any reported incident. During the search, police recovered a loaded 9mm firearm.

Blue faces numerous charges, including Assault in the First Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and three counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited. Additional charges include Discharging a Firearm on a City Street and Criminal Mischief Under $1,000. Following his arraignment in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas, Blue was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution with bail set at $165,000 cash-only.

Authorities remind the public that these charges are merely allegations and emphasize the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law.
