Wilmington Police Arrest Juvenile in Connection with Armed Robbery

WILMINGTON, DE — A 16-year-old male juvenile has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery following an investigation by the Wilmington Police Department. The arrest comes after an incident reported on March 18 in the 600 block of South Franklin Street.

According to officials, officers from the Uniformed Services Division responded to the scene of the reported robbery at approximately 7:00 p.m. The case was later assigned to Detective John O’Connor of the Criminal Investigations Division, who identified the 16-year-old as a suspect during the course of his inquiry. Warrants for the juvenile’s arrest were subsequently issued.

The juvenile was initially detained on April 10 in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, for an unrelated matter. On April 21, he was extradited to Delaware to face charges associated with the alleged robbery.

Police have charged the juvenile with the following offenses:

  • First-degree robbery
  • Two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited
  • Second-degree conspiracy

The juvenile has been arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and remains in custody at the New Castle County Detention Center on $16,000 cash-only bail.

Authorities emphasize that all suspects and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Further details regarding the case have not been released at this time.
