Wilmington Man Faces Gun and Drug Allegations Following Arrest

WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police have apprehended a man after a late-night encounter on November 9 led to charges of gun and drug-related offenses. The incident unfolded around 8:59 p.m. in the 1600 block of West 2nd Street, where officers from the Uniformed Services observed a male displaying suspicious behavior.

As police attempted to engage the individual, he allegedly discarded a firearm and fled. A brief foot chase ensued, resulting in the arrest of 20-year-old Ryan Miller. During the pursuit, authorities reportedly recovered a loaded .380 caliber handgun, identified as stolen, along with 2.2 grams of crack cocaine.

Miller now faces multiple charges including Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, two counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited, Receiving a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver, and Resisting Arrest. Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Miller was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, with bail set at $34,000 cash-only.

Officials have emphasized that these charges are allegations, and Miller is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Further details may emerge as the investigation continues.
