Wilmington Man Faces Drug Charges Following Police Operation

WILMINGTON, DE — In a recent operation conducted by the Wilmington Police Department, Layton Mangrum, 45, was arrested on multiple drug-related charges. The arrest took place on October 24, 2024, at approximately 1:44 p.m. in the 400 block of North Monroe Street, an area under surveillance by the department’s Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division.

Police officers observed Mangrum allegedly involved in activities consistent with drug trafficking, leading to his apprehension. Upon investigation, law enforcement officials reportedly seized 2.09 grams of crack cocaine, 60 milliliters of promethazine, 15 oxycodone pills, and 11.68 grams of marijuana from Mangrum’s possession.

Following his arrest, Mangrum was charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, along with an additional charge for endangering the welfare of a child. These allegations underscore the ongoing efforts by local authorities to tackle drug-related offenses in the community.

Mangrum was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20, where he was released on $11,000 unsecured bail, pending further legal proceedings.

It is important to note that all charges against Mangrum are currently allegations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
