Wilmington Man Arrested on Gun Charges and Outstanding Warrant

WILMINGTON, DE — A 25-year-old man was arrested by Wilmington Police during a firearm investigation that also revealed his status as a wanted individual in an unrelated matter.

The arrest occurred on the morning of March 5, 2025, at approximately 7:38 a.m., as members of the Uniformed Services Division conducted a firearm investigation in the 700 block of North Madison Street. Police made contact with the man, identified as Nizere Fitzgerald. Following a brief investigation, Fitzgerald was taken into custody without incident.

Authorities reported that Fitzgerald was found in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun, which had been reported stolen.

Fitzgerald now faces multiple charges, including carrying a concealed deadly weapon, receiving a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, and tampering with physical evidence.

He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and released after posting $13,000 cash-only bail.

Officials emphasize that all allegations are under investigation, and Fitzgerald, like all defendants, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
