WEST CHESTER, PA — Authorities in Westtown-East Goshen, Pennsylvania have issued a warrant for a woman accused of failing to make required deposits totaling over $13,000. The allegations stem from an investigation launched earlier this month at a local Dollar Tree store.

The Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department began its investigation on January 4, 2024, following an initial report of theft from the Dollar Tree situated in Westtown Township, Chester County. Kanecia Sareta Ward, a 47-year-old employee of the store, is now being sought in connection with the case.

Ward, described as a 5’6″, 200-pound black female with black hair and eyes, allegedly did not make daily deposits as required by her employment, leading to a significant shortfall. This alleged failure has prompted the police department to level several charges against her.

The charges currently lodged against Ward include theft by failure to make the required deposit, theft by unlawful taking, forgery, receiving stolen property, and tampering with records. These are serious allegations that, if proven, could carry significant legal penalties.

The warrant for Ward’s arrest was issued on January 12, 2024. Authorities are now seeking assistance from the public in locating her. Anyone with information about Ward’s whereabouts is urged to contact Detective David Hale at the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department at dhale@wegopd.org or 610-692-9600 x 216, or submit a tip via CrimeWatch.

As always, it is important to remember that these charges are merely allegations. Ward is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The issuance of a warrant does not imply guilt, but rather denotes a step in the investigative process.
