NEWARK, DE — Delaware State Police arrested a Fairfax, Virginia man on felony drug charges after a traffic stop early Monday morning.
On April 21, 2025, at approximately 8:22 a.m., a trooper patrolling I-95 southbound near State Route 273 observed a gray Honda Accord traveling at a high rate of speed and failing to maintain its lane. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Benjamin Rivelis, was stopped, and during the interaction, the trooper detected the odor of marijuana and observed drug paraphernalia in the center console.
A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a substantial quantity of drugs, including approximately 13.53 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 8 grams of methamphetamine, 1.56 grams of ketamine, 28 doses of LSD, and various paraphernalia associated with drug distribution, such as digital scales and packaging materials.
Rivelis was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 2. He has been charged with multiple offenses, including two felony counts of possessing a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of controlled substances in Tier 1 quantities, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additional charges were filed for speeding and other traffic violations.
Rivelis was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $22,000 unsecured bond.
Authorities remind the public that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
