WEST CHESTER, PA — The West Chester Borough Police Department is investigating a fraud case involving the creation of a fraudulent identification document and an attempt to access a victim’s bank account. Authorities have released an image of the suspect and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individual.
On October 8, 2024, officers responded to a fraud report and, through their investigation, determined that the suspect used personal information belonging to another individual to fabricate a fake ID. The suspect, whose image has been provided by police, allegedly replaced the victim’s photo with their own on the identification document. Using the fake ID, the individual attempted to gain access to the victim’s bank account at a WSFS Bank location in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Authorities confirmed the suspect’s attempt was unsuccessful.
Police are asking anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to contact Corporal Hill at ahill@west-chester.com or by phone at 610-696-2700.
The investigation remains active. Authorities stress that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
